Vulval dermatology refers to disorders of the female genital skin. Conditions assessed and treated include disorders which cause itching or pain of the vulval skin including:
- Rashes of all types
- Chronic candidiasis
- Lichen sclerosus
- lichen planus
- Genital ulcers
- Skin cancer and mole checks
- Hidradenitis suppurativa
Dr Drummond assesses and coordinates management of vulval pain (vulvodynia, vestibulitis, dysaesthesia). These conditions often need multidisciplinary management.
If required, further referral may be made to physiotherapists, psychologists, gynaecologists or your general practitioner.
Lesions (“lumps and bumps”) and pigmentation of the vulval skin are also common reasons for referral.
Dr Drummond sees women with vulval problems in Canberra and the NSW South Coast. These are private practices.
She also conducts a public outpatient vulval dermatology clinic at the Canberra Sexual Health Centre. If you would like to be seen at this clinic, please contact the Sexual Health Centre directly to make appointment, by phone on 02 5124 2184.
Please note that if Dr Drummond sees a patient with a vulval skin problem in the hospital outpatient clinic, she is legally a patient of the hospital. Dr Drummond does not keep the medical records at her private practice, and cannot answer queries or provide prescriptions or pathology request forms.
We would like to advise that all patients who have chosen to be cared for through The Canberra Hospital Outpatient clinics, must contact the Hospital regarding any concerns, advice or prescriptions following your appointment.
